Cross Country competes at Ness City and Lincoln

On Thursday, September 29, the team traveled to Ness City to compete.  It was a great day to run and all of the athletes had season best times.  Kayley Chrisler was in a field of 38 runners and finished 11th in a time of 22:47.  This was more than a minute and a half off her previous best.  In the boys race, there were 47 runners.  Taitem Zeigler earned 4th with a time of 18:21.  Dylan Pruter was 23rd (20:44) and James Maupin finished 30th (21:20).

Tuesday, October 4th, the team traveled to Ellsworth but because of lightning and rain the meet was canceled.
What started as a warm day on Thursday, October 6th ended as a very windy and cool day at Lincoln.  Despite these conditions I felt the athletes performed very well.  There were 59 runners in the boys event.  Taitem Zeigler once again put in a very good time of 18:39.65 and was the champion.   He was in a group of 4 or 5 runners but at about 2/3 of the way through he distanced himself to take 1st place.  He was followed by Dylan Pruter (21:40.55) in 24th place and James Maupin (22:25.01) at 31st.   Kayley Chrisler followed the boys by earning the 12th place medal in a time of 24:41.02.  There were 30 female contestants.
The final meet for Dylan and James (as they will not compete at Regionals) will be on Thursday, October 13 at Downs in the Lakeside Invitational which also will be our NPL meet.   Taitem and Kayley will compete at Lakeside as well as Regionals.
