A New Face at Natoma High -- Brian Patterson
New faculty/staff members have been asked several questions to get to know them better. The following article is on Mr. Brian Patterson, our new 7-12 Social Studies teacher.
- What subjects/classes do you teach? 7-12 Social Studies
- Where did you go to college? BS – Truman State University, MA – Southern Illinois University-Carbondale
- What inspired you to teach? My dad was a teacher and coach, as well as many other members of my family.
- What made you choose Natoma? After being retired for a year, and deciding to get back in, started looking in Kansas, Natoma was the first job I found, applied and accepted the position.
- What is your hometown? Rembrandt, Iowa
- Was teaching always your passion? Teaching and coaching
- What was your first impression of Natoma? Small town in the middle of nowhere
- What was your favorite subject in school? Science
- What is your ideal age group to teach? I have taught k-12 and college, have enjoyed every age.
- Have you worked at other schools in the past? Yes, this is my 6th secondary school and I taught at 5 different colleges too.
- What was your initial reaction to such small class sizes? I had been in small schools before so not an issue.
