5 CC Members Finish Year, 1 Prepares for Regionals

There were six athletes that competed in Cross Country this year, three Freshmen and three Sophomores.  Five of these competed in their last meet for this year and one will continue to prepare for Regionals with a chance to run at State at stake.  Carley Chrisler (Sophomore) will be the lone runner at regional in Washington on Saturday, October 20 at 10:00 a.m.  She ran her best time of the year at Lakeside on October 11.  Her time was 24 minutes 26 seconds on the 5K course.  She finished 53rd of 96 girls overall and 17th of 39 girls that were part of the Northern Plains League.  Ashton Lund (Freshman) also put forth her best effort here with a time of 22:20.  This earned her 25th and 7th places, respectively.  With this time she was only 3.13 seconds off of the girls' school record for a 5K run.  Jayce Dickerson (Sophomore) led four Natoma boy runners to a 2nd place team finish in the NPL (there were seven total teams in this).  He also ran his personal best time of 19:04 (28th of 110 overall runners and 5th of 45 NPL runners).  Jayson Engling (Sophomore) was 74th and 23rd, respectively with a time of 21:48.  Coming in 47th and 10th was Logan Pruter (Freshman) with a personal best time of 20:07.  Rounding out the competitors was Nicholas Racette (Freshman) as he ran 21:49 to finish in the 76th and 25th places.  This was also his personal best.  Each runner peaked at the perfect time but due to other commitments five runners completed their year at this meet.  Congratulations to all runners and good luck to Carley as she tries to return the the State meet in Wamego on Saturday, October 27.
