RCACF Provides Opportunities for Students

The students at Natoma Elementary School benefited from two trips recently.  On Monday, May 11, many second through sixth graders traveled to 183 Lanes in Stockton as a reading reward.  The students who earned all of their personalized Accelerated Reading points, percent correct on their tests, and read within their book level goal were treated to bowling and a drink.  Upon returning to Natoma, they ate Hunt Brothers Pizza from Masters Oil.  Students look forward to and work toward this fun reward all year long.

The following day, the Pre-K through sixth grade students journeyed to Rolling Hills Zoo.  The students enjoyed beautiful weather as they toured the museum and watched the animals in the zoo.  They ate sack lunches at the zoo as well.

The students benefited from other trips this year.  The fifth and sixth graders learned about Wildlife, Agriculture, and Conservation at WACKY Day at Kirwin Reservoir.  The preschoolers through second graders learned at Granny Mae’s Pumpkin Patch last fall.  The third graders learned about early days in Kansas at the Deines Cultural Center, and the fifth graders profited from the hands-on activities for Earth Day at Wilson State Park.

All of the expenses incurred by USD 399 for these trips were funded by a grant from the Russell County Area Community Foundation.
