TIGERS EXCEL AT STATE TRACK MEET
The high school track team competed at State on May 30 and 31 in Wichita. There were sixteen competitors in each event. Everyone competed well and we came home with several medals (these were given to the top eight competitors). There were 73 girls teams in Class 1A that competed with 56 of those scoring points. The Lady Tigers finished in a tie for 24th as a team. On the boys side, 75 teams competed with 54 scoring. The boys finished in 42nd place. Kayley Chrisler (Fr) ran in the 3200 and received 13th place. Earning 11th place in the 3200 was Jacob Chambray (Jr). He ran his best time of the year in this race. Jackson Stull Meiers (Sr) was back for the third year in a row in the long jump and finished in 10th place. Competing in the high jump for the third year was Kourtney Grafel (Jr). She cleared 5' 0" to earn the 5th place medal. This was her third state medal. Regan Casey (So) competed in the 100 m. hurdles, 300 m. hurdles, and shot put. She ran to a 4th place finish in the 100 m. hurdles after a 9th place finish in this event last year. In the 300 hurdles, she took 12th. Returning in the shot put from last year (5th place), she finished 10th. The boys 4 x 800 (Jackson Stull Meiers, Jacob Chambray, Joey Raat (So), and Dean Masters (So)) returned again this year and finished in 7th place. Cale Hooper (Sr) joined Stull Meiers, Raat, and Masters to make up the 4 x 400 Relay. They put out a great effort in the prelims on Friday to earn the right to run again Saturday evening. An 8th place finish was earned by this group. Congratulations to this year's athletes on a great finish to a great season. Many of these athletes are underclassmen so they will have their sights set on hard work next season to return to this excellent event. For complete results go to the KSHSAA.org website.
