TIGERS QUALIFY SEVERAL FOR STATE TRACK MEET

Nine athletes competed at FHSU on Friday, May 17th for the chance at qualifying for the State meet this weekend to be held at Cessna Stadium on the Wichita State campus.  Six will move on to compete in individual and relay events.  Athletes had to finish in the top four at the Regional meet in Hays to go to State.  Regan Casey will compete in the shot put (1st at Regional) and the 100 meter hurdles (4th).  She finished 5th in the 100 meter dash and 6th in the 300 meter hurdles.  Kourtney Grafel will go to State in the high jump (2nd) to try to improve on her sixth place finish at the finale last year.  She also earned 5th in the discus at Hays.  The girls finished in 7th place out of 24 teams at the Regional meet.  On the boys side, Jackson Meiers will return to State in the long jump after taking 3rd at Regional (he finished seventh last year at State in this event).  Maddux Winter will compete in the 110 meter hurdles (3rd).  The boys 4 x 800 meter relay team (Jackson, Maddux, Jacob Chambray, Joey Raat) took 3rd on Friday and will run at the State meet as well.  Dean Masters took 6th in the 800 meter run and the boys 4 x 400 team (Jackson, Joey, Dean, Cale Hooper) also earned 6th.  The boys finished in 10th place out of 24 teams.  Congratulations to all of the Regional competitors and good luck to those who qualified for State.  Complete Regional results and be found by clicking on Regional results.  The State schedule can be viewed by clicking on State schedule.
