November Newsletter

The second half of October and the first part of November have been extremely busy here at NHS. We finished up fall activities and this past week began practicing winter sports. So it won’t be long until we will be preparing for Christmas break.
Mr. Jeremy Long and some members of our FFA chapter attended the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 21st thru October 24th. They boarded a bus with other area FFA chapters and left for Indianapolis early October 21st. Along with the convention, they also got to tour the St. Louis Arch and the Indianapolis Speedway. Members that made this trip were senior Garret Mathews, junior Jed Johnson, sophomores Lakin Pfortmiller and Jared Hachmeister, and freshman Phillip Murphy.
With the end of October came the end of both the high school football and volleyball season. The Tiger football team finished the year off with a loss at home to Victoria to finish the season with a 4 – 5 record. The Tiger volleyball girls finished off a great year with a 1st place finish at both the Twin Lakes League Tournament and the 1A Regional Tournament at Logan. The Tiger ladies then advanced to Sub State tournament at Ransom, where they were knocked off by the Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks in the first round of tournament play. All in all, it was a very good fall, and I was very proud of the way our students went out and competed each week.
Our music department has also been extremely busy over the past several weeks. On November 6th the high school choir traveled to Sylvan to practice and perform at the Twin Lakes League choir festival. Along with getting ready for league choir, both the high school and jr. high choir and bands have been frantically preparing for their Christmas concert that will be held December 1st at 7pm.
Thank you to everyone that was able to get to the high school during this past nine weeks parent/teachers conferences, and if there are any questions or concerns please feel free to call or stop by.
Sincerely,
Ben Labertew
