Pumpkins, pumpkins everywhere! On Thursday, October 15, Natoma Elementary students visited the Sasse Pumpkin Patch in Athol, Kansas. First, second, third and fourth graders departed the school first thing in the morning with hopes of a great adventure.
Students were greeted by Sherrill Sasse when they arrived at the pumpkin patch. She had a great day planed for us! We went on a hayrack ride and toured an old one-room schoolhouse. We even learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin while we were in the schoolhouse. We also got to play fun games with gourds. We launched them into the sky. Some students launched the gourds as far as two hundred feet!
We saw and learned about many unique types of pumpkins and gourds, including: Blue Pumpkins, Swan Gourds, Pink Pumpkins, Jack-o-Lantern Pumpkins, Cinderella Pumpkins, and Apple Pumpkins. Each student got to choose a pumpkin to take home. Also, each class chose a pumpkin to put on display at the school. Stop by and see our different selections!
We did indeed have a great time at the Sasse Pumpkin Patch!
