Natoma Elementary students observed Fire Prevention Week during the week of October 5, 2009. Students were given a lesson on fire safety practices. They learned how to prevent fires, how to put out small kitchen fires, when to check smoke alarms, who to call in case of an emergency, and how a fire spreads—just to name a few.
After an informative lesson students were given the opportunity to look at a ‘real’ fire truck. Not only did they get to look at it, students got to learn about all of the important features of the fire truck and see the tools that firemen use to do their jobs.
We would all like to thank the Natoma Fire Chief, Keith Koelling, and all of the other firemen for taking the time to come to our school to teach us about fire safety. We learned a lot!
