SCHOLARSHIPS and FINANCIAL AID

Deciding what to do in your future years is a stressful time.  College planning takes a lot of work and commitment on each individual's part.  It is not an easy process but it can be a very rewarding process. 

Following is a list of resources that you can preview to help you in the process.  Take the time to search out information and answers to questions that you have and also search for any scholarship that you might be eligible for.

Free Scholarship Search

There are many sites available for scholarships but you have to be careful when reading through the information.  The following ones have been recommended by College Financial Aid offices as well as being listed on reliable websites:

         www.fastweb.com - This site will compare your background with a database of awards.  Only the awards that fit into your profile are identified as matches.
        http://apps.collegeboard.com/cbsearch_ss/welcome.jsp - created by the College Board and lists scholarships and other types of financial aid programs from 3,300 national, state, public and private sources.  Updated annually.
        www.finaid.org/scholarships - provides information on searching for scholarships and other financial aid resources.  Also, provides information on what to watch out for as well as a lot of other good information.
       www.scholarships.com - similar to FastWeb, it uses your personal profile to identify and match the scholarships that are most relevant to you.
       www.college-scholarships.com/index.html - this site is designed to offer college-bound, graduate school-bound, and career school bound students of all ages information about a wide variety of topics.

 

Other sources for information

www.finaid.org This is a good source for information about many aspects of college planning and searching for financial aid.

www.salliemae.com Provides an informational pages for parents and students about   1) planning and preparing for school   2) finding loans to help you pay and    3) financial services to get you started.  Provides links to many areas of information for college.

www.collegeboard.com Provides links for students as well as parents to look at college planning information.
