Natoma FFA Competes at Goodland

carpentry and surveying. Each one of the competitions included a written test and then a “Hands On” part. This is where competitors were required to do certain tasks.
   As a team Natoma came out with a 6th place finish overall out of 13 teams. Besides Natoma, there was one other 1A team. In individual competition Beisner placed 1st in welding, Griffin placed 3rd in welding and Engling finished 9th in welding. In Electricity, Thompson finished in 6th place. As an overall team Natoma placed 1st in the welding competition.
   “I felt we did a really good job being one of two 1A teams there and I was really happy about placing 1st in the welding competition. I think we could have done better if we would have been more prepared,” said Senior Clint Griffin.

   Several members of the Natoma FFA went to Goodland Wednesday, Febuaruy 28th, to compete at an Agriculture Mechanics competition. Those who competed were Senior Clint Griffin, Juniors Justin Theleman, Morgan McNeal, and Josh Engling, Sophomores Jared Lyle, and Arthur Thompson.

NHS Students Attend TLL Band

who also brought the BCCC Jazz Band. He worked with the students for most of the afternoon, and helped the mass band practice for the concert later that evening.
   The concert itself started at 6:30 PM with the TLL mass band playing two pieces: “Days of Glory” by John Cacavas and “When Summer Takes Flight” by Robert W. Smith. Following that was a percussion ensemble, “Roll-Off Rhumba” by Vic Firth, involving the TLL percussion students. After that, the jazz ensemble performed three songs: “Tangerine” arranged by Peter Blair, “Sambita” by Jay Chattaway, and “Foul Play” by Kris Berg. Finally, the TLL mass band ended the concert with two more pieces: “Big Four March” by Karl L. King and “Prelude and Dance” by Eliot del Borgo.

   On March 5, the Natoma High School Band traveled to Wilson to attend the annual Twin Lakes League Band Clinic and Concert. All eight TLL schools: Chase, Lincoln, Lucas-Luray, Natoma, Sylvan Unified, Tescott, Tipton, and Wilson, were in attendance.
   The clinician this year was former USD 407 teacher and current Barton County Community College Director of Instrumental Activities, Steven Lueth,
